The Australia WildFires

By: Amelia Zalubas

Australia has been a blazing continent recently, with fires decimating an astonishing number of animals and humans. Houses are going up in flames, and firefighters from all over the world are flying over to aid Australia in this major crisis. Sadly some of the heroic people trying to tame the wildfires, have died in the process. At least 30 people have died and there is an estimated half a billion animals dead. Elaborating on this, around 25,000 koalas have died, along with thousands of camels and sheep. More than 3,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed in the fires. Some wildfires have been burning for months on end with no relief, as there has been a drought. Natural causes like lighting and human influence have caused the bush fires. Fierce winds contributed to the flames by rapidly spreading the fires. South Wales and Victoria have had the worst experience in the fires. The drought in Australia and climate change have worsened the wildfires throughout the years. If you would like to help you can donate to some organizations, like the Australian Red Cross and the NSW Rural Fire Service.
